The first battery to hold electricity was the beginning of explorations with currents of electricity, in other words, moving forces of electricity. It was in 1799 that Alessandro Volta made the first battery.
He studied and formulated how electricy moves. He did experiemants and was able to observe the electric force cause water to separate into hydrogen and oxygen.
Volta became so famous that Napoleon honored him with money and tiltles.
