Simply Shocking

Electricity can be so scary it could kill you.  Or it might just shock you.

Current electricity, as in an electrical  current running through wires, is the kind of electricity which does the work for us  in our houses and in our world.  The laundry, vacuuming, heating and cooling.

Static electricity is something that every one has likely experienced, with a shock. Sometimes it happens from our socks rubbing over a carpet and then touching a person or  a metal object.  When drag our feet over the carpet we move around the invisible electron particles, atracting them to our socks and making them vibrate.  In order to stop vibrating, or let go of the energy they have to pass it on to something.  So when you touch another person and shock them they just got all that energy being released with a bang.  A little bang.

So current and static are different types of electricity.  Static means that it is not moving, its just sitting around doing nothing.   A current is movement.  We see a current  in water when we watch the tides, these movements are called flood currents when the tide is coming in, and ebb currents when the tide is going out.

Air currents are called wind.  Fast moving air is called jet streams.

Telluric currents, also called earth current, are natural electrical flow of movement on the surface of the earth and beneath the surface.

So a current is a moving force of energy.  Static is a force at rest, not moving.
