Who Was Linus Pauling?

Historically this man was the only person to ever receive two unshared Nobel Prizes.  One for Chemistry in 1954 and one for Peace in 1962.  Behind the scences I dare say he was an Alchemist.  In his era, decades ago, these Nobel Prizes meant something more than in this centtury.

Certainly he was one of the people Who Knew of realities beyond and behind the scenes.  I think it shows in his face.

This article is to highlight his work in the unseen realm of the human body and the minerals that work it.  Pauling was born in 1901, in a different era, in Portland Oregon.  In the early 1970's Pauling was well respected in the scientific community and because of this many forward thinking physicians at that time began to implement his ideas into practice.  However, to quote this source

So defensive was the medical profession against interlopers that his theories generated disdain among even greater numbers of doctors. source -orthomolecular .org

I can say that I experienced this first hand.  Here is my little story from the  1980's.  I worked for a time in a local community hospital in a town in Northern California.  It had been in the 1970's that Pauling and Arthur Robinson established the beginning of what later became LPISM -The Linus Pauing Institute for Science and Medicine, in Palo Alto California.

Pauling did not invent orthomolecular medicine; he simply identified the principle behind a type of therapy, and named it. So great was his stature in the scientific community that a number of forward-thinking physicians were drawn to his ideas and began to implement them.

By the 1980's there were doctors and patients benefiting from the work of Pauling.  One of these doctors was practicing at the hospital where I worked.  I remember him, his name and the buzz buzz buzz arount the hospital halls regarding his vitamin C treatments.  Within a short time this young doctor also  experienced the "generated disdain among even greater numbers of doctors"  and was booted outOf course in my small little job I wan't privy to the details, only the rumours.

HOWEVER, in my little job at the reception counter where all non emergency patients came first, I met a patient of this doctor who had come in for her treatment.  She was quite surprised to learn from me that her doctor was no longer practicing at this hospital.  I would also say she was disillusioned as to why she wasn't told about this and why he was gone.  I left my post briefly and continued to talk with this patient as she strolled out of the building.  She was more than happy to share her very high opinion of this doctor who was cast out, and also share her amazing recovery story with the vitamin c treatment she was given.

Personally, I never forgot this moment.  It is still alive and vivid in my memory, that behind the scenes moment which gave me a glimpse of varying reality.  I thanked this woman for sharing her story with me.  It confirmed for me that the "experts" don't always act with intelligence or best interest of all.

It has been only in the last decade that I have pieced together the Linus Pauling puzzle piece with my own experience that day.

I would have like to have met him

"Professor Pauling as always is ahead of his time. The latest research on vitamin C substantiates his twenty-five years of advocacy and investigation on the benefits of vitamin C."    -J. Daniel Kanofsky, MD, MPH, Albert Einstein College of Medicine
