This book was first published in 1994 and I read it a few years after it was published. To this day it remains a favorite. I wasn't aware of Leon Lederman before reading his book but I had been following the Higgs Boson up and down my magnetic path in search of ELECTRICITY.
The particle that we now call the Higgs boson first appeared in a scientific paper written by Peter Higgs in 1964, . At that time, physicists were working on describing the weak force – one of the four fundamental forces of Nature – using a framework called quantum field theory. - CERN website
The God Particle is a book about CERN and the search for particles in the quantum zoo. It discusses 137, and the story of Wolfgang Pauli and other human fields. Uncomplicated but sophisticated enough to exert the pull that attracts all the curious believers in actual ancient wisdom, the old knowledge that gets dressed up and masqueraded as a modern movie star. The God Particle is a good book and fun to read.
